Advanced Disposal Begins Macon, Ga. Residential Waste Management Services on Jan. 4, 2016
先进的处理,一个集成的环境爵士vices company, will begin providing residential garbage and yard waste collection services to the former incorporated Macon, Ga. communities on January 4, 2016. The Macon-Bibb Commission’s decision to privatize certain waste management services within the former City limits only affects garbage and yard waste.
“Over the last several years, we have seen increasing inquiries from local governments as they contemplate the many benefits of privatization. We provide our municipal clients with solutions to their needs that includes; cost containment, service guarantees, risk protection, environmental stewardship and economic sustainability,” stated Charlie Gray, Advanced Disposal’s region vice president. “This privatization strengthens our existing Middle Georgia footprint, and we look forward to providing our newest Macon-Bibb County customers with continued environmentally sound, customer care-focused service.”
Advanced Disposal has also invested locally in Macon-Bibb County this September, building a $1.6 million Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station at its hauling facility. CNG is an alternative fuel used for internal combustion engines. It generates low hydrocarbon emissions and is considered a clean energy. While the U.S. imports more than 47 percent of the oil it uses, 98 percent of the natural gas used in the U.S. is produced in North America. In the U.S. alone, Natural Gas Vehicles offset the use of about 400 million gallons of gasoline in 2013, and that number is only increasing, according to the America Natural Gas Vehicles for America.
Thirteen of the company’s trucks will fill up at the station every night and keep the greater Macon-Bibb community cleaner and greener every day. Customers will notice the logo on the trucks that reads, ‘powered by CNG.’ A CNG truck costs between $30,000 and $40,000 more than a comparable diesel truck. Approximately 60 percent of the Macon fleet is fueled by CNG and this number will increase as the company replaces retiring diesel trucks once their useful life has expired.
